Default Bed Lights not Working

I recently got led rock lights and installed them as bed lights. When I connect the positive and ground to the + and - of a drill battery they work perfectly fine. When I disconnect the battery from the truck and connect the positive to the + stud and the ground to the - stud they work perfectly fine. The issue comes when I connect the battery back to the truck. When I connect the positive to the + stud and the ground to - stud or a ground bolt only the first light lights up. Has anyone had a similar issue? What could be causing this?

Welcome to the site..
Sounds like a wiring or ground issue.
