CM code 542 after changing the fuel filter please help.
I recently bought a 1994 ford f 250 with a 5.8L engine. it was owned by a company that bought it brand new and parked it inside a warehouse every night so its in great shape and only has 120K miles on it. It was parked for years with out being started so the first thing i did was change all the fluids and give it a tune up (plugs, wires, coil, distributor cap). Although it ran pretty good it felt like it was starving for fuel so i decided to change the fuel filter. I changed the fuel filter which was so dirty it had dark brown fuel running out of the inlet side. I took it for a test drive and it ran great. The next day i drove it it felt a little rough like maybe it was starving for fuel again, then it almost died on me a couple of times when taking of from a dead stop so i parked it. All i did was unplug the fuel pump and change the filter. I have of course reconnected the fuel pump. I ran a diagnostic and i get a cm code 542. could there be so much crap in the tank that the filter clogged? could the connection be faulty to the fuel pump even though it looks firmly plugged in? I have noticed a whining noise coming from both tanks when that tank is selected im not sure if this was there before the filter change or not.
