Door lock Relays
OK,
I have a 2021 F350 with a Stahl service body. I am trying to connect actuators for the body door locks to the truck door lock loop and I want to make sure the relays can handle the extra load. I cant find the location of the relays listed anywhere.
Does anyone know where they are or what their amp rating is?
Thanks,
Brian

OK, So, I figured out my own method. I couldn't find the relays but i did find the lock wires in the door kick panels. They use the Brown/Green and Gray/Purple. On the single cab truck they run through the door kick panel, under the seats, then through the other side door kick panel. I was able to tap into those and use my own relay for the compartment door locks.
If what you did continues to function, great.
What you should be aware of however is, Fords don't like any kind of add on's..The modules are designed to monitor any changes like addl drains and opens in circuits and will shut down the system. If you have any problems up the road, the first thing I would consider would be to take that relay out of the circuit and see if the problem goes away.
I realize you would like to have it all controlled from one source, but the design of the Body Control Module (BCM) may not be designed to accommodate that addl ,even minor load.and could shut it down and cause someone a lot of unnecessary work. We just can't do the things we used to do on newer vehicles.
