Unhappy Electrical problem, darn warning bell

When I shut off 2005 F 350 super duty, with brake set, key out, belt off, the darn bell keeps beeping at me every time I open the door. p.s., lights are off.

HELP! I would love to kill the little monster but I can't find it.

Does it do it if you leave the key in the ignition?

I would suspect a problem with the contacts in the key tumbler section of the ign switch.

Thanks, the previous owner said the ignition sw. had been changed. I will figure out how to get to it.

On the 'side' of the ignition lockset housing bore, there's a plastic tang assy. that carries the grounding prong for the key chime. It's a light push on fit. The plastic breaks and the prong shorts out.

Remove the screws in the lower column cover. On the bottom cover there's a small access hole just under the lockset.

Turn the ignition to the Run position,, (batteries disconnected, unless you re insert the lockset to be able to turn the ignition off) insert a punch, nail etc. and depress the pin just enough to slide the lockset out. You may have to push in/out slightly to get a release. If you push in too deep, sometimes the punch will hang up the removal..

Once the lockset is out, you can lift the top cover enough to slide the plastic assy off the housing (if its still even connected)..

Tape it and drop it into the front/lower cover area.

There's no repair connector for a fix, and the plastic/prone is part of the airbag sliding contact harness assy..
