Default Ficm replacement

Just had my truck checked at the shop. Ficm is toast. They are booked for the next 3 weeks so I need to change it myself. I can get the board from the local parts store(Lordco). Will a part from there already be programmed or will I need to take it in for that?

How will you know if the logic side is good? IMO it is best to send it in to FICMrepair.com
