Ford 350 speed delay
Hi I can't find my old post that I wrote about this. My husband has an on going problem with his Ford 350 7.3 L Diesel truck. We live in New England and its very cold right now.
When he puts his foot on the gas pedal the odometer needle moves up but the truck does not move at the speed the odometer reads. It lags behind. There seems to be a delay. He said he read somewhere it might be a sensor. It seems transmission related. i'm not sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Some addl info please,
Year of truck, 4 wheel drive yes /no , Standard shift or automatic , once it is run and warms up does the problem still appear? Are we sure the speedometer needle is moving before the truck moves or is it the other way around where the speedo is late indicating the speed?
Some things are not supposed to be possible, but there's always a first time.
Some diesel equipped trucks seem to lag behind when starting to move as compared to a gasoline driven car.

Its a 2002, 4wd, automatic, and yes it happened warm. the rpm needle moved sorry not the odometer. I checked the transmission fluid was checked 4 weeks ago seemed find. But then I/he checked again and the transmission fluid seemed low and put some in and the lag stopped. But now we have a new problem when gears are changed their a bump/skip you feel the gears change. What could that be? Thanks for answering
