ford f350 6.0 problems
I have a 2004 f350 with 6.0.
I let it sit for a while during this virus crap and when I went to start it, it started easy and idled smooth but when I would put it in gear it would die. It felt like when a standard trans is hung in two gears kind of dying. If I let it idle for a while the ecm gets hot. I took the wiring harness to trans off and checked every wire for short but found none. Changed the ecm (I have a spare) still easy start but will not go in gear, plus I cannot get many rep's in park or neutral.
Anyone every had this problem?
Thanks
Alton

I don't remember which fuse it was, but it was one of the 10 amp fuses under the left side dash had a poor connection and displayed similar problems.
When the driver stepped on the throttle pedal it was just about non responsive.
Something to keep in mind , a lot of those had leaking windshields that allowed water to cause all kinds of problems with the fuse panels.

OK had time to pull the fuses and check them and made sure they were not corroded. Put them in and truck started fine idled good and when I put in reverse started backing fine, put it in drive and started forward, then it locked up again and killed engine. When I tried to start the truck again it started moving forward as soon as I hit the starter.
Now I am sure the sensors or solenoids or one of them is bad.
Found a kit to change them all, but don't know what else I will need.

Two things come to mind,
the fact that it attempted to move when trying to start it sounds like the converter is locked in the applied position.
The other concern is the MLPS (manual lever position switch) formally neutral safety sw.
Can you tell us what the trans code is on the door pillar sticker?
