Default Fuel chip

I have heard about a computer chip that can be installed in my truck and it will increase the fuel mileage Does any know anything about these chips? Do they really work? I have an F-350,1995, with the 460 EFI engine. Appreciate a response. Thanks, Bill

There are people that get paid a lot of money to run all sorts of tests to get the most of a happy medium out of their engines. You can up certain results usually at a cost of losing something else. With stock engines that are expected to deliver acceptable service , performance, economy and durability at a reasonable cost , pushing the envelope in one area most times sacrifices something in another area. Those big cid engines were not noted for fuel economy, but had all kinds of power.

Chips do/can help increase HP, limited for the most part on gassers, but generally what happens is you get the benifit of the extra power with no to little loss in MPG. I used to have a 93 F150 5.0 that had the ol Superchips on board. Think it was a 15hp gain and helped with added grunt pulling a smaller 5th wheel. Saw a slight increase with no load..
You may see some small increase in MPG if you don't play with the extra power. Or, nothing at all. The promoted or stated increases,, maybe,, but would probably be realized in the more strict of conditions, and may not be the environment most would, or you may drive in..

My 05 6.0 runs the Diablo Predator flash, 65hp gain, to near 400hp. Never saw any real MPG loss unless I flattened the gas pedal out to often...
