I have a 2004 F250 4x4 Crewcab Lariat. I have problems getting the truck to unlock the shifter. I put on the brake and sometimes it releases and sometimes it doesn't. At times, I have to push the brake really hard to get it to release. Has anyone had this problem and how can I fix it. The truck has about 52K miles so I'm way past warranty.

 

my uncle had a problem like that and all he had to do was get the trans taken out and looked at...... and then it was just the shifter. itself being a pain. so yah look at the shifter itself first then go get the trans looked at.
