Default having power issues.

So I have a 1978 F250.

I have been having power issues with the truck going up hills and when I at a standstill - in drive - it seems like the truck wants to die.

I have been told that it is the carborator and that I should put in a new one or a rebuilt one. Is there a benefit from switching from a 2 barrel to a 4?

The last 2 days I have also noticed that transmission fluid is leaking onto the ground. Would this still be a carborator issue or am I now looking at a transmission issue.....or both?

if your engine revs way up there and you're not moving then it ain't the carb it's because you're losing too much fluid in the tranny

The engine does rev. just drove it from SF to Portland.
It kicks down when needed.....but when it kicks down there isnt any more power, just allowed me to stay at the same speed....so were talking transmission.

On this trip I also started using more gas than I had before. could this be an issue with the float / sensor in the carb?

I could use some more info on that truck. like the engine size and there is not a sensor in the carb it's nothing more than a float that lets fuel get into the bowl

When I passed it this morning, saw that its leaking transmission fluid. I didnt have time to see where its coming from yet, so right now thats my main concern.
