Default heater core problem possibly?

just replaced my radiator cap and thermostat (bad mechanic didn't put one in) and now when my truck gets warm the heater smells like antifreeze. i also took it into les schwab to have the breaks checked today and they noticed it was pouring out antifreeze from a drain hose or overflow hose that appeared to be coming from the heating unit. anyone know what could be happening here?

From what you describe , it sounds like the heater core is leaking. Most of the time they just get replaced.

sounds like heater core leaking.might have your hands full with this one.some of them old fords require removing entire dash panel and what ever is connected to it.lots of labor but you can do it.sounds like a day of work at the garage.that can add up .
