I have an '85 F250 highboy. it has the classic 460 with a c6 tranny. I have recently decided to restore the truck. My issue is that now I have the bed off I am replacing and upgrading the fuel pumps and moving the fuel valve switch, I need to find the wiring diagram for the pigtail for the harness from the old one because the new one has a different pigtail.

From what I recall, the fuel tank selector switch has 4 contacts.
the selector valve switch has 5 contacts


Which one are we talking about ? And what is the color of the old wire , if it was connected and working?

So we are on the same page, the selector valve switch comes off the motor that switches the fuel lines , yes/no?

 

the tank selector valve has 5 wires yellow/white, yellow/blue, red, brown, and blue. the new pigtail all 5 are black but they are labeled a,b,c,d,e,f with a being blank

 

Bear with me , I'm getting an education out of this too.


Does the replacement valve provide any kind of info like some type of diagram?
If so, pass that on to me and I may be able to tell which of the 5 go to what color you have. We will get this straightened out , it just may take some time.

The colors I have found are;
orange
yellow/white
dk blue/yellow
Red
brn/white


If you have some kind of diagram for the replacement valve , I should be able to tell you what color connects to which wire of the replacement.

 

I have the valve diagram for the pigtail. but yeah. i am going to run to the ford dealership fast its only 10 minutes away
