hot start
Hi all I have ran into a small proble. I have a 89 ford f250 with 5.8 and it runs great untill you shut it off after it has warmed up then it wont start for around 10 minutes then it will fire back up and run again. I have replaced the starter, coolant temp sensor, temp sending unit, battery, distributor, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, ignition module, throttle position sensor, and have done a fuel pressure check and all results are within specs of repair manual. When it is cold it will fire right up no problems but when warm it turns over very slowly like the starter is dragging. What else could my problem be.
It was a brand new starter not a rebuilt one and I hooked up a meter to the starter when i was cranking and the results were where they are supposed to be. could it be that the solinoid is just geeting to warm
did you hook up meter to starter while it was hot and if its not that or solenoid then something may be trying to seize up but it still sounds like starter to me but its hard to diagnose something without hands on check also could still be a bad battery although you said it was new
i just posted with same exact problem with my 97 f-350 , 460 aod 4x4. bought the truck two years ago and still fighting the problem.......was told maybe the crank sensor. please keep me posted if you find out any new info. as will i,thanks.
