Interior light stays on - 04 F250 - Help?
Anybody know anything about the sensor/switch that tells the truck that the door is shut? First, my door ajar light stayed on, now my interior lights wont shut off. It is in my driver side door. I am assuming that for some reason, the truck can't tell the door is shut.....Help please.

The switch for the dome lights and so forth is located in the door latch assemble (I think) it was in my 98 windstar anyway and they where sticking and i sprayed the door latch assembly with WD40 and they began to work fine.

I also have this problem. Read this reply last night and have heavily sprayed the latch. It took care of the "door ajar" light, but the dome light and bed-light still stay on for 30-60 minutes after I shut the truck off. They also stay on all of the time when I am driving down the road! Any more suggestions? I don't really feel like going to the Ford garage about it if they are just going to spray something else with wd-40 and charge me a bundle.
Thanks for your help!

those switch's work on the ground method, it up remove them from the door still, you will find several lil wires on a springs, an contacts, with a plunger on the back side, as, Truckpuller stated some times spraying them down with a tad of WD-40 they will work again temp.the oil washes away the dirt from the contacts so they can make connection again, Another thing you might try doing if I remember rite . They take a 5/8' wrench or socket, Is tighten them up in the door still as they get full of crud around the threads an no longer make a good ground, usually you can get to the wires , after removing the kick panel for that side , most times they only need like a 1/4 turn, an the wires will pivot around the plunger so you really dont need to un-plug any thing unless your going to remove the door switch

The switch is inside the door panel attatched to the latch, very common problem. You can try to clean the switch but if you are going to the trouble of getting to the switch you should just replace it

I had the same problem with an Explorer. It wasn't the Door Jam Switch. My Door Ajar light was off, but the dome light stayed on, the key fob locked the doors, but gave a double horn beep when checking the locks. The key in ignition warning would stay on whether the door was open or closed.
It was a broken wire between the door and body. There's a large black wire that is too stiff for the constant bending and eventually breaks.
So I removed the door panel and the speaker. I removed the electrical tape around the wire harness and rubber boot. Then I gently pulled wires until I found the broken one. Once I spliced it together, everything worked again.

Hey man, I have a 2005 f350 Harley edition that had similar issues. They Keyfob stopped working, the auto switch on the headlights stopped working, the door ajar lights reading when doors are closed and my dvd system stopped working. After bypassing all the door switches I brought it to the dealer and after they looked at it for four days they found out if was the icm. Otherwise known as the interior control module and it's all fixed.. some models have different names for these modules but if you have more than one symptom it's probably not just a door switch.. good luck

I have an old econoline van and the the interior lights stay on, even after its turned off. Tried to leave this morning and had a dead battery. The interior lights just come on whenever, even with the switch turned off. This started happening slowly while driving done the road, but after playing with the switch a couple times the inside lights would go off, now that doesn't even work. So, now I know its the inside switch, is this expensive to replace, or can I fix it at home?
