Default Intermitent Wipers

I seem to be having a problem with my wipers. The other day they became real intermitent( work when they want). At first I thought the motor had died, but yesterday they started working and today not again.
I'm thinking probably a bad connection or a short or broken wire.
Anyone had a simular problem?
I have an 2004 F250 SD 4X4

Most common problem is the MULTI-FUNCTION switch. A.K.A. Turn Signal/Light/Wiper switch. I've had this issue on my 92 Aerostar, 94 Sable and 01 Explorer Sport. Replacing the MULTI-FUNCTION switch cured them all.
