Default Questions

Hi, looking for some infomartion. Just bought a 2001 F-250 7.3. I was wondering what modifications anyone has done and can suggest to increase trucks power and performance. As well, i need to recover the steering wheel. Wondering if anyone has done it. And if you need to take it in and get it done due to the airbag. Thanks

Default RE: Questions

One of the easiestmods to build power is to use a performance programmer/tuner like Superchips ect... You can add 60-70 or so just installing a performance tune through the diagnostic connector.. But adding extra HP does come at some risk, especiialy if towing heavy and not following the HP to weights/load limits that the manufacturer lists.. More so in the higher HP tunes.. Larger diameter exhaust, as well as monitoring EGT (exhaust gas temps) is a good idea and a must in the extreme HP tunes.. My 6.0 runs the Diablo Predator and pushes out close to 400HP.. A gain of 60+ horse and more with the later build diesels is 'very' noticeable.. The leather wrapped wheel isn't terribly expensive and easier to just replace the complete wheel.. I don't know of anyone repairing/covering the stock wheel, but sure there is someone that does.. But again, cost affective? On the older F's I used to cut the leather off, and cover the wheel with a stitch on aftermarket cover.. Or, you can usually find a good used wheel at a dismantler ect. or eBay and such..
