Lockable fuel door for 2015 F-350 Powerstroke Diesels
Hi.
After scrutinizing the web and relevant forums for a lockable fuel door for my 2015 F-350 SD Powerstroke Diesel, it appeared that no one knew of a fuel door that would fit for sure.
I checked web stores that offered lockable fuel doors but they all indicated that the doors would only fit up to the 2014 trucks.
I checked with my dealer parts guy and he confirmed that the OEM fuel doors for the 2014 and 2015 are the same part numbers so I felt pretty safe in ordering the AMI door (I got mine in the "Brushed" appearance; part # 6058L).
Having installed mine, I can state that the AMI fuel doors will fit the 2015 F-350 Super Duty (assuming they're all the same size and have the same fittings but only differ in appearance; e.g., brushed, chrome, black, etc.).
HOWEVER, there are some caveats. If I had it to do all over again, along with following the enclosed instruction sheet step-by-step, I'd:
1. Cut off the studs half way. They're waaaaaaaaay too long and, at that length, some of the hardware didn't fit.
2. Drill out the rubber-stopper holes (as instructed in the instructions) but then angle the driver upward on the top hole and downward on the bottom hole to make the holes slightly elliptical instead of round. (Note: If the studs are cut off halfway as suggested above, this step might not be needed.)
3. Toss the gigantic flat washers that are supplied as none of them will fit anywhere except on the top-left stud. Standard-sized flat washers work fine.
Note: I just clipped the plastic strap (for the green twist-cap) off since I don't leave the fuel door while pumping so the cap will be with me at all times.
Other than that, it is a simple replacement of the OEM door and can easily be done in less than half an hour, including the additions I listed above.
I've placed some pics of the door mounted on my 2015 F-350 Super Duty on DropBox at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qbs47s5c2...U-Ah6KMOa?dl=0
Hope that helps you and others.
