Default low fuel economy

I have a 1975 f250 and it runs great. I have had no problems with it but there is a light on the dash saying low fuel economy. I don't know what it means or how to shut it off. The mileage is the same that I would expect so I don't think that's it either.

I'm new to the forum so idk if this goes in with the problem. But I just got a 77 F250 yesterday. And I put 7 gallons into it and apparently the truck idling for 5 minutes went through all 7 gallons. I was wondering if it's just the 460 doing it's thing. Or if its another problem. Maybe gauge wise or not. It was in the aux tank too. Sorry if this isn't the right place but Idk how to make my own thread.

Welcome to the site ReelinRyan..

Your topic and posts follows this thread, but should you want to create your own,,

From any of our site pages, on the top/left header area click on the FordForum logo, it will bring you to the main/home page.. Scroll to F250 etc. and click to open. On the top of the thread header over to the left you'll see New Thread..

Doubt you burned 7 gallons in 5 minutes! unless theres a leak. 460 isn't known for mileage, but not that bad. Aux tank an add on unit?

I don't think it's an add on. It's the F250 Ranger Camper Special. I didn't see any leaks on the ground or anything. But the kid did not know how to fix anything so I went out and got a Haynes manual for it. Btw thanks for the help. Started a new thread so I wouldn't steal this guys.

No way seven gallons went through that motor in five minutes at idol.
She'd be seeing hydraulic lock or at least carbon spewing out the back end.

Anyway, aside from sitting and running a major factor in bad gas mileage is; THE DRIVER.

1~Drive like you have a raw egg between the gas pedal and the foot.
2~Resistance through air SQUARES as speed DOUBLES. It's just physics.

So slow down, coast, brake early, no jack rabbit starts racing to the next red light, easy in-easy out, run clean filters.

skip.
