No fire from coil
1986 Ford F350 460'
I an a retired mechanic of 66 yrs my last 20 years in Diesel so I never had an occasion to work on the Ford electronic Ignition
The first problem is too many cooks under the hood before we Acquired the truck. First the wiring was a mess, the connectors were all corroded , the org owners had started to replace the Control Module
After a few few hours of messing we finally replaced the Dist., and wiring harness for the control mod. after receiving the new harness ( with NO wiring diagrams) I matched the new harness with the old harness wire for wire and finally got the engine started, Carb leaking Like a sieve, replaced Carb, today started and ran!!, rounded up all the wires getting them ready for Loom. went to start the engine and no start!! checked everything and found no fire from the coil, Tested for ignition power to coil all is good but no fire.
Does anyone have an Ignition system wiring Diagram for this system? or how to test the wires?
Frank

With a test light , clip connected to battery positive terminal and test light touching the other wire on the coil.
When cranking that test light should blink if the pick up coil in the dist is sending the ground from the ign module to the coil causing it to fire.
Will try to scare up a wiring diagram and post it here Maybe raski has a manual with the instructions and that would save some time.
I doubt you have a defective part since you replaced most of the ones involved and there may only be a poor connection.

Which ignition system do you have? Duraspark (on the fender) or the TFI module on the distributor? Sounds like you have TFI. I am looking through my library. See if this helps. It should also apply to your 460.
