Smile Novice Needs Help F250

Our F 150 is now gone, i.e. a total loss. Need to buy a used F250 Super Duty Diesel. What model years should we avoid? Probably will be looking at 2007 to 2010 given measly insurance settlement and other factors. Will be towing a Lance 23 foot trailer which weighs about 6500 lbs. when full.
Please help.

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site..

Go with the 6.7, latest MY doable.($)
Any truck your considering, have your local Ford stores service dept. run an Oasis Report per the VIN for you. Should be no cost, and will give you an idea of the level of warranty repairs ,if any, done through Ford. Having a possible candidate checked by a quality shop prior to a purchase is also added insurance if/when possible.

My 0.02..
6.4,, pass
I'd rather go for an earlier well cared for lowest mileage 6.0. They had their issues, but I'd go 6.0 before 6.4
7.3's were great, last year offered was 2003 and not the power of the later Power Strokes, but are aging and harder to find a quality contender. Possible though, but out of your interest 07-10 year range
Look over and thoroughly inspect any candidate, including any service history, huge if available. Gauges and power increasing equipment gives an indication of what/how it's been used. Towing heavy, fifth wheel, not a deal breaker but again I'd go more virgin. My 6.0 has been pushing near 400 hp since 2k miles. 160k with no issues. Had to through that in for all the 6.0 bashers... Either way you go, make the best informed decision possible.

Good luck...

Thanks for the information. We've done some shopping on the internet and it appears that our budget wil not support the purchase of a diesel. So, is there any model year, 2008 - 2012 to be avoided in a gas powered F250?
