Default Oil pan leaking

The oil pan has sprung a leak, so I have my shop look at it and they told me it has been patched befor and has started leaking in another place. They also said it is a common problem on these trucks.
Quote for putting on a new oil pan can run as high as $2000.00. I just about had a heart attack when they told me . I think I will try to patch it myself, can anyone suggest a good product to use for the patch?
Thanks
Greg

Did you think about looking for another oil pan at a parts store orjunk yard? For $2000 that oil pan better be gold plated!!! If it's not a large hole, I think I'd just slap some "J-B Weld" on it and call it good. Just be sure to clean all of the oil and paint off of the area to be patched.

I have the same problem on my 95 f150 but its so small i add a quart every month. Mine cant be seen or gotten to due to the crossmember blocking all sight of it. I was quoted 700$ by a dealer to lift the engine and replace the pan.

The shops quote was for removing the engine replacing the pan and re& re the A/C , reinstalling the motor.
A fellow at work suggested using fiberglass. Anyone tried this or is there something else.
Thanks
Greg

If you don't put oil in it, it won't leak. Try that.
