1999, F -350, V8, 6 Speed.
In Sept i replaced the electric door lock on the passenger side. It worked fine until yesterday. I activated the switch, the unit tried to lower the door lock button (kind of a quite click versus the thump of it working right) but no dice.
How long do these things last?
Anything else I should be looking at?

Anytime I get questions like yours my first thought is where did you get the replacement part? If it was a cheapo from the land of chow mien, yeah , they just don't last.
If you got it from Ford, then check all your connections. You have to watch out for the imported junk a lot of the auto stores are selling these days. Always reminds me of a famous saying , author unknown, "The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of price is forgotten".
