Default Shimmy

I have a 1974 F250 4 speed manual.

What would be the cause of a "shimmy" when downshifting from 4th to lower gear as in stopping or slowing down?

Engine braking is bad to a manual car when you don't or don't know how to rev match. When you know how you don't need to look at the tachometer, it's all by feel.

Where are you feeling the shimmy, front, rear, driver's side or passenger side , or steering wheel ?

It feels like the front, can't really tell if driver or passenger side, but some through the steering wheel.

Hard to say if it's drivers or passenger side, definitely front and can feel it in the steering wheel.

Time to have the front end checked for loose or worn parts.
