when I'm pulling my trailer with my 96 f-250 with a rebuilt 460 it sometimes dose not want to shift down, after going up a hill, right away. any ideas.

 

you mean it wont step down to help up the hill, or once in that gear it wont go back?

 

Yea , its kinda confusing what your saying , As your going up a hill with a load,,, The tranny should DOWN shift to help you get up the hill.,,,, An then as you level off it should UP shift to the next gear . What is it yours not doing , getting stuck in the lower gear ?? , Or getting stuck in the Upper gear ?? , Do you know what your tranny is , how many miles on it , An when was the last time you did a oil change on it ,, Did you check the oil is it a dark red ? , An have a very strong odor ?,,,,,,, geessss we want to know alot huh . , does it hurt when i do THIS !!!!

 

it sometimes ,past the top of the hill, will not shift out of passing gear. 240,00 kms on tranny. oil looks ok. changed 18,000 kms ago.

 

I'll be honest , Ive never ran into one that acted quite that way, off the top of my head all I can think of is that should be an EAOD tranny. An you got a faulty 3 , 4 shift solenoid, these should set a code that can be pulled using a scanner . , sorry I cant offer a quick fix .
