Water in the fuel?
Hey guys:
I have a 1999 F350, 7.3 turbo deisel. I know I had water in the fuel. I have drained the fuel bowl several times already and changed the filter twice. The "water in fuel" light has stopped coming on, but the engine still has no power. The engine is bucking between 1000-2000 rpm. I know it's my injectors, so I have tried using several high quality additives to cure this. It doesn't seem to do anything.
I have read through the "water in fuel" threads here and I understand there is 2 fuel filters. I have only changed the one on top. I just learned about the other one.
Is there a way to fix this?? Or do I need to get my injectors checked and replaced. I understand that's a pretty expensive to do. I would ideally like to drain the fuel out of the fuel tank (the 40 gallon one). Replace all the filters and give it a whirl.
How big of a PIA is it to do and do you think that should be my next step??
Thanks,
jwmghf

If you have had water contamination for some time, the injectors will probably need replaced. I have seen what water can do to them. I would leave this to a good mechanic or Dealership to do the work since it requires some special tools and a great deal of knowledge.
It's been running like this for about 2 weeks. Is it worth changing both filters again? I don't know where the other filter is? And if you think it's worth it, what is the best way to drain the fuel tank to get the water off the bottom?
Thanks,
