Default Wheel Spin Limited slip

I have the following rear end in my 1999 F 350 also equipped with a 6 speed transmission.
D1 — 3.73 limited slip, F-350, single rear wheels

How come the non spinning wheel doesn't lock up to assist in moving the truck in slippery conditions?
I had the right spinning but got no help from the left side.
What gives?
Thanks,
Eric

Any chance there's been rear diff work done prior?

Straight shoot'n or rounding corners when in slip conditions?

During a Trac Lok test, if its possible to put one wheel on a dry/solid surface, the other on a slippery surface heading in a straight direction and apply light throttle and check for clutch application. Depending on contact and available traction there, (L or R) if one side or the other has significant drag or stopped its similar to a tighter turn where the 'pivoting' tire is more locked, and the outter release to make for the larger turn radius and not hop or skid the tire. Straight, and both on the same surface condition, application should reasonable uniform unless conditions change.

Pretty common repair thou. And, if the lube has suspended clutch material/metals and/or the magnet looks like a gray cotton ball coming out, chances are the clutch pack needs to be replaced. Not uncommon for the carrier to be worn as well, and if the combined clearances are excessive due to wear, or compromise the spring preload,, the less the Lok hold and application, if any..

Not sure if any work has been done on it. Probably need to open and have a look. Slipping was straight ahead with as little torque delivered tot eh rear end as possible. (Started in 2nd gear just keeping the engine above idle to help "roll" it out)

Is there any guidance on examining the diff so I know what I'm looking for?
Thanks!
Eric
