Default wheres the pick up on this pick up

Hey all new to this forum and new to owning a Ford pick-up. I recently bought a pretty nice 1991 F-250 with auto and the 5.8 V8 with 155000 KM. I was wondering are these thingsreally slow in the mid-range accelleration department, or is there some areas I should be checking on this thing? Now it does have overdrive and with overdrive off,it pick-up quite nicely. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Your F250-F350 were made for hauling heavy loads,, they aint speedie , So ya low / mid range is pulling power,, if you need it faster prehaps look at putting a cam in her ,, or try a puther chip

I am new here, too. I just got a 1996 F-350 with 7.3 P/S and though it has plenty of rolling power once it is up to about 20-30 mph, it is a real dog on the start up. I don't know if this thing would pull a trailer very well unless someone got it going.
Has anybody had a similar experience? Sluggish start off, but excellent acceleration once it gets rolling? I don't know if it would be a transmission problem because when the accelerator is mashed to the floor, the engine still isn't turning any faster than if I was just easing it up to speed. It has 3.55:1 rear end and stock tires.
