Default Back up camera and additional brake light.

I’m working on a project here that’s a little bit out of my league. I haven’t done a radio install since the 1980s and well, they’re just a little bit different nowadays. Anyhow, I am hooking up a back up camera and the installation part is cake but I am having trouble figuring out which wire down by the tail light actually goes to the back up light. The wiring in the harness that goes into the taillight compartment is brown, black, white wire with a red stripe, and plain white. This is on the driver side. I am also adding a rear spoiler to the car which has LED brake lights on it. I need to know which of those wires I use as well. If anybody can clear this up for me I would greatly appreciate it, thank you in advance! Until then, I am at a standstill.

What year model do you have?
If I understand you just need to know which wires are which for the left rear tailight.

Default I’m an idiot…

In all my frustration I failed to mention what I am working on. Ugh!! I have 2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited AWD. I think I may have figured out the back up camera wiring but I ran out of daylight and won’t be able to get back to this happy little project until Tuesday. Oye!

OK this should take care of you. Splice into the harness correctly and dont use scotch locks please.

Default Back up camera

Excellent!! Thank you very much. Got it all wired in. Also glad the cable for the video ran all the way up to the dashboard. Cleverly concealed, wouldn’t even know it was there. I have another dilemma also but I haven’t really put my head into it quite yet but when I took out the old radio yesterday it has three connectors in the back the long one, medium size, and then the smaller one. The aftermarket harness that I bought on Amazon only has the two, The larger in the smaller connector. Like I said, however I haven’t put my head into this yet to figure out how this works but if you have any immediate ideas I’d be willing to hear that as well! Thank you again for your help, very much appreciated!

What is the point of the aftermarket harness?

Well, being a complete novice with these newer units, new to me anyways, I thought it would be easier to wire the aftermarket harness into the Kenwood harness and then basically just be able to plug it right into the existing wiring harness of the car.

So your replacing the radio as well then, in that case I have no idea how the aftermarket radio wiring works.

I bought an older Kenwood DNX7100. Navigation , xm, CD, all that stuff. Watched a few YouTube videos on installations. I think I’m just over thinking it and afraid I’ll screw something up. I’m sure I figure it out once I get into it.

BTW, that schematic you posted was very easy to read. Would the radio plug ins (3) be published as well on whatever source you found that? I could look it up myself if you can point me in the right direction. Thanks!!
