Default A/C not cooling

I have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred AWD. I'm having a problem with the A/C not blowing cold. Sometimes it does feel like it is just slightly cooler than vent air, but it also could just be the fan blowing the air around.

I hooked up a set of guages and the high side ran at about 100 psi, and the low side started out around 50 psi and dropped down closer to 45 as it ran for about 10 minutes.

The compressor clutch does kick in and spin when the A/C is turned on, and the condenser fan is on also.

I'm not sure where to go from this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You can lookup the Youtube posting for the cheap fix for your problem. I had the same problem with my wife’s 500. Turns out that it is only a cheap valve problem. I found this out after buying a new compressor, Evaporator, and dryer/accumulator. Could have saved hundreds if I had looked up problem on Youtube.

Default A/C

I have a 2005 that did the same thing when I bought it. It took taking it back three times before they fixed it; it was the compressor. The 500's temp control automatically turns the darn a/c on even in the winter. It turns it on all the time for god knows why, so the compressor get's overused and fries at about every 50k miles unless you keep turning it off (Per internet research on the subject). It's over a $1000 repair, good luck.

Designed by the same guy that got the seat belt to jam in the door every time you close it.
