Default D.E.M Module

Hi Folks. Looking for some info on a 2005 Ford 500 AWD Limited. The dealer tells me the Differential Electronic Control Module ( D.E.M ) is fried and they want $1700 for a new one. I can get a used one for a lot less money. My question is: Can I use the solenoid valve of my own unit in the used one??The used one does not have the solenoid valve and Ford says they are matched from the factory, but yet they have a seperate part number for it. Any info on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Someone with more experience on this could give you a better answer, but one question comes to mind and that is what caused the module to get fried? Just correcting the result is leaving the door open for a repeat failure. There is probably a lot more to replacing that module including, but not limited to, updating the PCM.

There was a recall on the throttle body and I took it in to have that done, but the car started acting up soon as I left the dealer. I believe they shorted it out, but cannot prove it.
