Ford 500/ Montego
See my thread under Ford Expedition C.O.P.'s #3 miss fire...
New guy here so here goes.
The wife bought a new 2007 Montego Premier AWD. This is a very nice car IMHO. "I luv's the car."
Vin: 1MEHM43187G600834.
Has almost 16,000 miles on it as of 20-December-2012. The only thing worn out on it is the oil pan drain bolt as the computer dictates.
No actually Ford R&R'ed the rear rotors and pads. Something was amiss there early on. Did not pay any attention to that and not pay for it either...maybe down the road again? Any clews?
Tires are rotated ever oil change by Ford. As long as I buy oil chanes at Ford, Witt Ford will replace the 17 inch Perelli P-6 tires, balance and valve stems for free. I have it in writing!!
The pisser is these ties loose pressure, think right through the aluminum rims. Porosity ?
Thanx. skip Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
Merry Christmas.

I f you get a dog you get the fleas too. Aluminum wheels are porous but the valve inserts are sometimes to blame. Buy a set and replace them next to a source of compressed air of course.
Our Contour has a similar issue. New inserts helped but did not completely solve it. When we need new tires I will ask the shop to take the old ones off, give me the rims sans pneus so I can rattle can spray the insides with clear acrylic.
By the way: when ambient temperatures drop so do tire pressures. Gases contract more than solids. Air contracts more than the rubber.

Yea good idea. Forgot about the valve cores. R&R is no big deal.
I agree that the inside of the rims ought to be sprayed with clear liquid polyester or a spray single componet resign epoxy and spun up till tac'ed up. That would be about five minutes of rotation.
skip.
