Default Fusion Hybrid

Is there anybody that can give me any insight on the Fusion hybrid? I am currently driving a 2006 Ford Five Hundred and I really like this car. I am currently getting about 18 miles to gallon city and into the high 20s on the highway but recently I’ve been looking into the Fusion hybrid for better mileage or the Mazda 3 and/or 6. If anybody can maybe lend me their expertise or opinion on this vehicle I will greatly appreciate it. I know nothing about these vehicles other than the batteries can be very expensive to replace and that’s one thing I don’t want to get into. Looking to buy a used model nothing over 15 grand. Thank you in advance!

Could a used model just be waiting for a new owner and battery?

Suggest you get some more info before buying so you have some idea of what to expect and approx when.

Also , where you will go for needed service because only trained personnel should work on them, a lot to look into.

Yes, that’s pretty much exactly what I’ve been thinking too. Good point though also on having to take it to an authorized Ford dealership for repairs. Did not even think about that. Sounds like a great idea and all but may be enough reasons not to go that route. At least not till I get more information. Thank you for your reply, much appreciated!

If your present vehicle is still reliable and in good shape, I would keep it and not go for the hybrid. Your mileage is decent. Your 2006 is not worth that much. By the time you figure purchase price, sales tax and any maintenance work that may be needed on a used hybrid, you can buy an awful lot of gas for that money over time..

Yes, I’ve been thinking about that as well. The car really is in great shape for his age much like its owner, me. Ha! Anyways, I call this my old man car but it does get me around. Mileage isn’t what I’d like it to be but it is what it is. Thank you for your input, much appreciated!

Prices for new vehicles are out of sight and used prices are not that fat behind.

About how many miles a year do you put on your vehicle?

It looks like a creme puff, for the number of miles driven and the condition, right now you know what you have plus NO car payments.

I currently have just under 149,000 miles on this thing. And yes, it has been babied. Inside and out. I do get compliments all the time and people think it’s a lot newer than 16 years old. Engine compartment is immaculate as well. I think I’m going to go with everybody’s advice here and just stick with this car even if it is a bit outdated and the mileage could be a little bit better. I updated the stereo to a nice double din Pioneer so I do get the CarPlay and use of my phone and texting while driving as well. Wait, did I say texting while driving? Scratch that. I would never do that. Paint is immaculate, not a single tear or scratch in the leather interior. I guess I’m talking myself into keeping this. I put the rear spoiler on just to give it kind of a sporty groovy look. Just dated myself again. I also traded out the headlights to new units that are crystal clear. Most of the lights on the car are LEDs also. Haven’t figured out how to do the tail lights in LEDs yet that will work with this old Ford system.
