Default Intermittent Instrument Cluster Gone Bad

My 2005 Ford 500 has finally had it's Instrument Cluster go bad. (Loss of gauges and dash lites). I read the TSB 06-17-9 describing this common problem occuring in 2005-2006 Ford's 500, Freestyle and Mercury Montego's. Can anyone tell me from first hand experience or mechanic backround experience what this is going to cost me to get this item replaced

My mom has a 2005 Ford Five Hundred 40k miles And the back up lights were on when in park or driving. And the dash lights did not come on. They replaced the battery and alternator. And a week later the car won’t start now. It makes clicking sounds when you turn the key. It has been connected to the computer 3 times and shows no codes.
