I have a 2014 Flex with 44k miles and last week my wife was driving about 30mph when the CV axle completely disconnected on the front passenger side, causing the lower ball joint to come loose and slam the right front fender onto the moving wheel. Happy she wasn't traveling any faster or it could have been worse.

We had the car towed to the dealership and they are estimating $3k to repair drive train and body damage. Even though the car is beyond the 3/36 warranty I argued with them because something like this should not happen at 44k miles! All service has been performed at the dealership and it was just there one month ago! They were no help and recommended I contact insurance to file a claim.

To add insult to injury this is a lease vehicle and I just received notification from the dealership that it is time to review options for ending the lease. What a bunch of BS.

Anyone have any advice or experience with a similar situation?

I am considering it but would prefer to resolve it without legal expenses. There was a recall 14S10 in 2014 for a very similar problem but it doesn't look like our VIN was part of it. However, it is too coincidental that we had the same failure so prematurely.
