Starting System Fault - Help
Have a 2014 Ford Flex, no crank, no start. Battery was dead after sitting for a few months, so I hooked up a charger, had auxiliary/lights, etc. Still wouldn't start. Tried a jumper box, tried jumping it with another vehicle, same thing. Replaced the starter, no change. Was told the battery was bad, changed the battery, and now I'm getting Starting System Fault. Tried jumping the starter, and it will crank, but it won't start. Tried letting it sit 8 hours after replacing the battery as I've heard something about BMS needing to reset. No change. At my wits end and feel like it's something really dumb that I'm missing.
First thing to do is to inspect all the wires and terminals for corrosion then clean or replace. Second is to get a voltmeter and check the voltage on your battery before starting, get a helper to watch for the voltage change (voltage drop or cranking voltage) and start it up, what cranking voltage do you get?
