Hey guys. I just got a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 - 4 Cyl 2.0L. 43,000 miles.

I need to change out the struts and shocks.

Just wondering which ones would give me the best comfortable ride?

One place I went to said to use the KYB

What are you aiming to gain? Unless your existing shocks or struts are leaking, I seriously doubt either are worn out in just 43k miles. Your springs and tires will have the biggest impact on ride quality. The ride height can be measured and compared to specs, the tires are pretty straight forward. It appears your car has sat around most of its life and springs and tires would be affected the most in a negative way.

 

Something to consider,
It is always best to stick with the info on the door sticker when considering tires.
Low profile tires might look cool ,and corner great, but provide a lousy ride. There is very little give in low profile tires.
A reputable tire place should provide the info you need to get the handling and ride quality you want .

 

Hey guys. Thanks for the response. The tires are new from Belle tire. I just went had them check, reseal, and high speed balance. So I'm good with the tires.

The struts and shocks will need replacing. Which brand would give me the best ride?

 

It's hard to beat OEM parts if they are still available. Replacements likely are going to be Chinese junk and not as durable compared to your present parts.. . I would like to know how you determined your parts are actually bad? Is the vehicle bouncy or the any parts leaking? It seems you have your mind set on replacing everything and expecting your old vehicle to ride like new again.
Choose any name brand aftermarket shock or strut with a good warranty. I doubt you could tell the ride difference between any of them. Have fun.
