Question 2012 SEL Question

Hi all,

Question: would a faulty fuel pump driver control module cause the car to stall and oil pressure light to illuminate? Said car just had evap canister replaced, but continues to emit strong fuel smell, erratic rpm, and poor gas mileage. Codes for mass airflow, fuel pump, and fuel pump PCM came up after evap was changed, but mechanic thinks the PCM is causing all of the issues. Just spent close to $400 to replace the canister and now quoted another $400 with this issue! At my wits end with this vehicle!

TYIA!

edit to add:
the car stalled twice today after exiting highway - the RPM would drop to 500 or lower, oil pressure light would come on and then engine stalls. Each time I was able to start the car back up immediately without an issue.

Just think,
If a lot of the answers just thrown up there were wrong.
Folks with some experience realize there could be a few reasons for the problem and don't like to undermine the efforts of your mechanic who has more knowledge of your particular vehicle than someone shooting from the hip and helping spend more of your hard earned money . Diagnosing over the net is a risky business and maybe there is a good reason for not replying immediately.
Some of the things you mentioned could be the cause of the problem, and without actually being there to check physically is not a good way to go. If you feel your mechanic is not on the right path have you considered trying a different shop?
