Question Brake and ABS Lights On in Ford Focus

I have a 2004 Ford Focus ZTS with 87,000 miles, drum brakes in the rear. Several weeks ago I replaced the rear shoes but did not replace the drums or the cylinders as they appeared to be OK. A few days ago the dashboard brake light and ABS light started coming on and staying on. When I pull up on the parking brake, even just a little, the ABS light goes off and sometimes the brake light also goes off. The brake fluid level is the same as it was a few weeks ago after replacing the rear shoes. The parking brake cables do not appear to be frozen. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? Is it safe to drive the car? Braking does not seem to be affected.
Thank you.
