Default Check engine light code P2004

Just bought a 2004 Focus ZTS with 2.3L PZEV engine. Cannot pass emissions with check engine light on and cannot register car without an emissions certificate.
So I'm stuck right now. Car runs fine and has done for about a year since the code turned up..
This code points to air intake which is a complex system with lots of vacuum tubes
I've looked at everything on Youtube. I cannot find any other 2004 Focus with the same air intake system/vacuum tubes as mine.
Anyone got any tips on how to diagnose this code? There are about a dozen possible causes, most of which are beyond my experise.
Is there anywhere I can find a detailed diagram of the air intake system/vacuum hoses for my particular car?
I think my car has some unique parts mandated by California emissions standards.
They don't seem to appear in standard Ford parts lists.
It looks like many parts for this system are discontinued by Ford but I have a few good junkyards near me.
