Default Error: P2008 Intake Manifold Runner

I got my car back from its second set of diagnostics, now they believe the engine light is from the intake manifold runner butterfly shaped guage.

So my question is:
What is the normal cost of this guage?
What is the long term damage on the car if this is not immediately fixed

They've quoted me about $250 for repairing this.

The Foci (singular of Focus) used a vacuum IMRC. There was a vacuum pot underneath of the intake (kinda a real pain to get to; best approached from the bottom) that controlled the shutters. The system used an actuator for the vacuum that was bolted right to the center front of the intake. Start by checking the vaccumm lines for cracks, and the pot to see if it holds vacuum. Also check to see of the rod is attached to the shutters as it should be.
