Focus Speedo sensor pin jammed

Focus Speedo sensor pin jammed
Tried to change the Speedo Sensor on my X reg 1.8 Focus Zetec but the pin is jammed in the block (who thought of a steel pin in aluminium!). Anyone got any ideas for removing it? tried grips but scared to break pin off.
