Default Ford Focus Mk1 3dr window regulator - 2, 6, 8pin??

Hello,

Can anyone shed some light on the number of pins in the motor in a driver door window regulator of a 2004 (Mark 1) Ford Focus Zetec with 3 doors? (Actually a Mk 1.5 facelift model but I think that's irrelevant).

My regulator needs replaced but I'm having great difficulty sourcing a replacement part, due to not knowing how many pins I need. I'm hearing conflicting information about the number of pins the part needs to have. One person said 'all Mk1 3 doors have a 2pin motor, multipin is 5 door only', someone else said 'Mk1 3doors have either a 2 pin or a 6 pin, and it depends on whether the window has a comfort function as to which one you need', and still another tells me 'if it has the comfort function, you need an 8pin, as Mk1 don't have any 6 pins'.

I'd love for someone who understands this to give me a really comprehensive answer as to what a 2 pin/6 pin/8 pin motor does and what model you find each in so I can source my replacement part. It's getting pretty urgent as the MOT is due and it's been to the garage twice with this issue to no avail.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Emily

Emily,
Most of the time your Ford dealer parts dept , once you provide your vehicles' VIN , can come up with the correct part. Have you considered trying this yet?
We all are trying to save $$ when purchasing replacement parts , but look what you are going through , is this worth the trouble?

Hi, thanks for your responses. We did try Ford directly. My local garage told me they had contacyed Ford for the part but were quoted about £400 - more than my monthly rent and unfortunately far more than I can afford as a student. If I can't find the part elsewhere, I'll have to take it off the road. So yes, this is effortful, but if it means I can keep my car, worth it.

Anyone else with any helpful knowledge to share?

In the U.K., in the north of England haha. It's ok, I'm going to another garage tomorrow to see if they can help. I just wanted to understand as no one at my regular garage has been able to give me a clear answer yet.
