Front end noise in '05 Focus
Hi!
I have 2005 Focus with 106,000 miles on it. I recently started hearing a noise in the front end that sounds like a "buzzing"….it kind of sounds like an aggressive tread tire running on pavement (and one that is out of balance). At first I thought it was just tire noise, but that has been eliminated as a possibility…..now wondering what else it might be. Someone told me that it might be the CV joints, but since there isn't any noticeable noise when turning, my mechanic ruled that out. He replaced both front wheel bearing hubs and that did not correct the problem. The noise is most pronounced at 35 to 50 MPH. Definitely not on the engine, as the noise stays constant when I put the engine in neutral and let the car coast. None of the mechanics I have brought it to can figure it out. Any ideas?
