Default Reversing Light Problem

I have a 2002 Focus TDI and cannot get the reversing light to work

so far I have replaced the bulb checked the fuse and tried to locate the earth point to clean that up if it needs it but cannot track the wiring to the earth point

Does anyone know where the earth point is?

Also any suggestions as to what else to look at?

As an update to the above I have now checked the earth with a multimeter and that looks ok, also checked the power supply and thats showing 12 volts ok but does not have the power to light a low wattage bulb and that is too various earth points.

So it looks like I need to gain access to the reversing light switch

can anyone help with the location of this and an easy way to access it

This switch might be part of the nuetral safety switch usually located on the transmission.

look for your tranny and check the reverse light switch(it's like a connector plug) it's connected in the transmission disconnect it and check it with a voltometer. if it's defective replace it.
