Today my truck started makingthis horrible squeeling noise on the freeway, but continued at anything over an idle, i checked the serpentine belt and it wasn't loose or old, but the idle pulley that holds tention sqeeks when you push the belt down. should i change it or does the pulley have barrings that can be changed? please help, im a girl and mechanicssometimes try and screw us over, so some knowledge first would help! thankx!

 

this just happened to me with my 96 expo...ended up shreading the whole belt (cheap 15 one) and my top pulley's berrings broke, went to ford dealership and got a replace ment, for around 32 bucks. O'reilley had them for like 28.
not sure if you can replace the upper pulley berrings, if you can just do that, if not just go by autoparts store and replace pulley...hope it helped.
