Recently has had problem with my 98' f150 4x4. My 4x4 will automatically engage while driving down the road and then disengage after awhile. It is not a electronic 4x4, its a manual shifter. I have no idea what the problem is please help.

 

Have you checked the 4WD shift actuator or its solenoids?
Thats where I would begin my testing at.
