Default 96 explorer-flex plat

Looking for some help. Took the truck into the dealer because it was making a funny noise. Dealer called and said it was a cracked flex plate. Okay that's fine but i was also have problems with the tranny which was just put in three months ago (was having power surges and the OD light was blinking). They said they would check the tranny and call me back. So later in the day, they call and said that the Plate was totally shattered and parts had flown into the tranny which ruined it and the intake hose also. Because the plate "blew apart" they would not warrant the tranny. Now i would think that if the plate was that bad when they first called me they would have said that the plate was totally trashed not just cracked. Would that sound right. Also, if the plate was the ruined, would that have done anything to the starter as far as wear in tear. Any help or comments would be great. Just trying to figure things out. Thanks in advance.

Ya know , ya try not to get in the middle of a situation you know is just plain bad.
From what you are telling us , to me, it sounds like you can't trust these people and something doesn't add up here to me either. There is a trans expert on this forum and I think his opinion is called for here. Let's hope he reads your post and can be of more help than I can.

Thanks Hanky. I would be interested to see what other people thought. I myself do not think things are right.

If everything is as you stated, this would be an excellent case for small claims court and I would let the dealer know you are considering doing this.

Interesting, Ford called and said they would cover everything. The Flex Plate, Tranny, and rear main seal. I think that maybe they knew they were wrong and now they are calling to say they are doing me a big favor. Once all is said and done, i will call the service manager and explain to him/her about their questionable work.

Sometimes good relationships start with difficulties. What you do is up to you, but it pays to use caution and " Ya get more flies with molasses than vinegar". Glad to hear that you will finally get some satisfaction.
