Hello need help. I have a c4 trans replacing filter. when removing filter a spring and small plug fell out does this need a ball bearing to go into the plug I have no idea of what year this trans is.

 

I don't know what kind if spring you found, but the plug if it is white plastic with a thin tip at one end , it is nothing to be concerned about. That plastic plug was used when the vehicle was assembled on the assembly line. If you just found that plug now it means the trans was never apart and the filter was never changed because we remove them when serviced. What kind of spring did you find?

 

Thanks for the info but I found a place called ford transmission valve body and it shows the spring and button there is no ball bearing listed so thanks for helping
