Recently found my coolant reservoir nearly drained. No overheating, but added dye and found what I believe to be the leak, which is the thermostat housing. Is this normal? If so, what’s needed to replace? Not a lot of information.
vehicle: 2017 F150 XLT 3.5 turbo. You can barely see the dye around the middle of the thermostat housing.
This is what you could consider,
Go to a Ford dealership parts dept ,get a thermostat, thermostat housing , gasket and anything additional they say you might need so when you decide to begin the job you have all the right parts. Don't know if housing is cracked or hose leaking, but if you start the job you should have everything to finish it.
It doesn't make much sense to go replace a gasket only to find the housing might be cracked. NOBODY likes doing the job over because they needed a $2.00 part.
