Is that the original radio or was it changed?

Year, model of your vehicle, please?

I've owned vehicle for over 5 yrs
this problem started up about 3 months ago
Radio is Original.
I thought maybe a bad ground
(ford's are good for that)
I grounded (using jumper cables)
engine to battery
Outside body to battery
Inside body to battery
never got a spark of any kind
triple checked my wire harness on back for trailer
which has been there since before I bought
Honestly I have no idea why.
Crap I forgot this part, there's been a "draining of the battery" for like 2 yrs. I found it was coming from something through the "inside" fuse panel so I put and "on / off" switch to the fuse under hood that supply power to the inside panel and as long as I remember to turn it off it doesn't drain the battery anymore.
I can't test with switch off because Radio doesn't come on with it off.

Hi John,
I believe you could benefit from a little more electrical testing.

Why did you wait 3 months to decide to find the problem,?
Still don't know what year , model.
Very important to have that info because different years utilize different methods to monitor things and one can go on a wild goose chase without having the correct info.

If you get a spark checking grounds, you gotta have a big drain and practically no ground. Don't believe at this time that is the only problem.

I believe you are on the right path, but you are only checking grounds when you might consider verifying the power being supplied to the radio.

It could be a poor connection in the power supply to the radio that when the brakes are applied they cause a drop in the power supply and the radio is showing that.

If nothing else is affected except the radio when the brakes are applied , one way to verify this is to run an alternate supply from a reliable source of battery voltage direct to the radio and see if that gets rid of the problem. If it does , now you know what you need to check and do.

Would like to know what result you receive and we can go from there OK , thanks

I've been so frustrated with this and your really trying to help but my brain keeps leaving things out.
So, I'm going to try to put EVERYTHING I know in this message.
My battery is good.
My alternator is good.
I checked ground from negative side battery to body and engine along with body inside.
3 months or so ago when I put my foot on the brake my dash, radio, tail, and head lights all dimmed.
Then my battery started getting drained.
I found that the drain was coming from inside the cab.
So, i hooked up a switch to the fuse that allows power to the inside fuse box so I can turn power off as to not drain battery.
About a month ago I still had the dimming but now the radio cuts out for a second and the volume drops when it comes back on.
I'm not good with electrical.
I THINK I put EVERYTHING in this message.
Wanna buy a truck LOL

Don't get discouraged, you are in a good place and there are a lot of good folks here that should be able to offer some help.

If we take one thing at a time , we might get lucky.

Evidently there is a problem that the brake application is bringing out.
If I recall correctly it is also involving the signal lamp operation too. On many vehicles the signal lamps in the rear are also the stop lamps. So,,,,,,,,, it is common to the stop lamp system.
Don't know if you want to go this route, but will offer it anyway.
The voltage going to the radio needs to be verified when the brakes are applied . That will tell us if full power is available there or not.
I suspect it may not be but we have to start someplace. If it is it could be a radio problem. If not, we know there is a poor connection that brings power to the radio.
Then we continue to work back to the fuse panel and look for a possible corrosion problem there.
There is something else going on because the battery is getting drained and the two are most likely related.
